ODOE Halts Approval of Rebate Reservations
The Oregon Department of Energy has been asked to halt approval of solar+storage rebate reservation approvals. All state agencies are required to produce a list of possible budget cuts, at a minimum of 8.5% of their budget. Since the rebates are one of the few programs that are funded by the General Fund, it is on the chopping block.
All state agencies must propose cuts including agencies that provide social services at a time when Oregonians need help most.
On May 20th there will be a new state revenue forecast which will give the Governor and the Legislature additional information to help them decide how to balance the budget. The Governor has the ability on her own to cut state budgets or she could call a special session of the Legislature to make the cuts.
OSEIA’s Executive Director has been speaking to the Governor’s staff and Legislative leaders about keeping these funds intact so that solar installers can continue working this summer. We will know more the week of May 20th and will keep you informed. informed.
