OSEIA Solar Rebate bill has its public hearing
HB 2618, which creates a solar rebate grant program to replace the RETC, got its first public hearing on February 28th. The hearing was strong – Rep. Brock Smith (R – Port Orford) testified in support of the bill as did OSEIA members Tom Kelly, James Reismiller and Newt Loken. OSEIA laid out a good case for why Oregon needs a new solar incentive and the committee was receptive. Next step – the committee needs to adopt the amendment and send the bill to Ways and Means, Natural Resources subcommittee. After the May 15th revenue forecast, legislators will decide what programs to fund and our bill will have a hearing in Ways and Means.
